9090 Hip Rotation: Stretching for Hips and Core
The 9090 Hip Rotation is an exercise that enhances hip mobility , flexibility, and core stability . To perform it correctly, sit on the floor with your legs bent at 90 degrees—one leg in front and the other behind, forming right angles. Place your hands behind you for support and, keeping your torso upright, slowly rotate toward the front leg while maintaining control. This exercise helps improve spinal rotation and hip openness.
Muscles Worked: Gluteus maximus, piriformis, quadriceps, hamstrings.
Equipment: Mat.
Activity: Mobility, Stretching.
Instructions:
Sit on the floor with your legs bent at 90 degrees. Internally rotate one leg and externally rotate the other. Twist your torso toward the internally rotated leg until you feel a gentle stretch in the lower back and obliques. This exercise enhances rotational mobility of the hips and spine.
