9090 Heel Lift: Stretch for Hips and Ankles
The 9090 Heel Lift is an exercise designed to improve hip mobility , ankle flexibility, and core stability . To perform it correctly, sit with one leg bent at 90 degrees in front of you and the other behind, forming right angles. Lift the heel of the front leg toward the ceiling while maintaining a stable position and upright posture. This exercise helps enhance flexibility in the hips, feet, and ankles, improving overall stability.
Muscles Worked: Gluteus minimus, adductors, TFL (tensor fasciae latae).
Equipment: Mat.
Activity: Mobility, Stretching.
Instructions:
Start seated with both knees bent at 90 degrees. Lift the heel of the back leg while keeping the knee grounded, isolating the movement in the hip’s internal rotation. This is an excellent exercise to strengthen the hip’s internal rotators and enhance mobility.
