COMPARISON

Myzone Alternative for Gyms and Fitness Clubs | Uptivo

Tired of a heart-rate programme where every new participant is another device to sell or another subscription to activate? Here is what changes with Uptivo.

What this comparison covers

This comparison covers what decides the outcome of a heart-rate programme in a real club: how many members actually take part, what you have to install and maintain, what happens to a member between sessions, and how much of your operation the platform can carry. It is not an assessment of everything Myzone sells. It is based on publicly available product information reviewed on 11 August 2026; availability may vary by product, plan, market and configuration.

The short version

Myzone sells effort points. It measures, scores and motivates inside the class, and connects to whatever club software you are already paying for. That is the whole product.

Uptivo starts from the same live heart-rate class and does not stop there. AI coaching between sessions, programming, bookings, memberships, payments, access control and business intelligence, on one member record, in modules you switch on when they pay for themselves.

And the difference your finance director will notice is on day one. With Myzone, every member who wants in needs a Myzone device, or a subscription bought per member. With Uptivo, a member with a compatible monitor connects and appears on the screen. Nothing to sell them first.

What Myzone asks your members to buy

On using a heart-rate monitor a member already owns, Myzone’s own FAQ states, at the date of our review: “It is not compatible with Garmin, Whoop, or other Bluetooth heart trackers.” The route Myzone documents for a member’s own smartwatch is Myzone Go, a subscription activated per member through the gym, and its Myzone Go material has more recently also listed Garmin through Garmin Connect. Public documentation appears to vary by product and route, so ask Myzone which of your members’ devices qualify and on which subscription before you budget anything.

Either way the shape is the same, and it is the shape that costs you participation. A belt to sell, or a subscription to activate, standing between a member and their first tracked class. Myzone’s partner documentation adds that Myzone Go participants scan a QR code and keep their phone nearby with the app running in order to appear on the screen during class.

Every one of those steps is a place where a member says “maybe next month”. That is not a device problem, it is a participation problem, and participation is the only reason you bought a heart-rate system.

The differences that decide it

  • Cost of one more participant. Myzone: a device, or a per-member subscription. Uptivo: nothing, where the monitor is compatible.

  • How the bill grows. Myzone does not publish facility pricing and states it depends on size and features; Myzone Go is sold per member, so success costs you more. Uptivo is priced at club level within the selected user tier: fill the room and the invoice does not move.

  • What the score rewards. Myzone publishes its zone table: 1 MEP per minute at 50–59% of maximum heart rate, rising to 4 MEPs per minute across the entire 80–100% band, so flat-out effort pays the same as hard effort. Uptivo awards no additional points above 94% of estimated maximum heart rate, and weights the score toward the members who keep turning up.

  • Between sessions. Automated coaching that briefs your trainers and follows every member individually is not documented by Myzone. In Uptivo it is a module.

  • The rest of your club. Bookings, memberships, payments and access control are not documented by Myzone, which integrates with club systems instead. In Uptivo they run on the same member record, and you stop paying four suppliers to disagree about who your members are.

  • Getting started. Uptivo Snap runs a live class from a browser on a screen you already own.

Availability may vary by plan, device, market and configuration. Where a capability is described as not documented, it means we did not find it in the public documentation reviewed on 11 August 2026.

Where Uptivo goes further

Participation starts with what is already on their wrist

Uptivo supports a wide range of compatible Bluetooth LE and ANT+ heart-rate devices, including monitors your members already own. Compatibility depends on the device’s broadcast profile, firmware and configuration, so before you commit to anything we check the devices actually in circulation in your club and tell you exactly what carries over.

This is the whole game. Every step between a member and their first tracked class costs you sign-ups, and a purchase is the most expensive step there is. Remove it and the programme fills before you have spent anything on hardware. Where you do want to supply devices, the Uptivo Lightband puts LED zone feedback on the arm: an option, never a requirement.

A score engineered around retention, not adrenaline

Uptivo Performance Points are calculated against each member’s own estimated maximum heart rate, so the deconditioned beginner in row three earns the same recognition as the marathon runner beside her for the same relative effort. She stays. No additional UPPs are awarded above 94% of estimated maximum heart rate: the score is engineered to reward the member who comes back on Thursday, not the one who empties the tank on Monday and disappears. Ten levels, Rookie to Titanic, take four years of sustained consistency at 2,000 UPPs a month, and a member with two years invested in your club does not casually cancel.

The 23 hours you are not selling today

Nate, the Uptivo AI coach, is built into the platform. It briefs your trainers on what actually happened in a member’s last session, then follows every member your trainers will never have the hours to reach: chat in the member’s own language, feedback after every session, and plans that move with heart-rate history, training load and, where the member connects them, sleep and recovery from Apple Health, Health Connect and Garmin Connect. Personal training reaches a small fraction of most memberships. Nate is how you serve the rest of them, and how you sell a coaching tier to members who will never buy one-to-one.

The club, not just the class

This is the structural difference, and it is the one that changes your P&L. With Uptivo the same platform also carries:

  • Bookings, memberships and payments: calendars, waiting lists, renewals, medical certificates and lead management in one workspace.

  • Programming and video-guided workouts across stations, from a library of more than 1,300 exercises, so a circuit runs without an instructor standing at every post.

  • Access control by QR code with Uptivo Gate, with or without a barrier, every rule checked in real time.

  • Uptivo Dash: revenue, attendance and a churn risk score for every member on one screen, with the revenue at risk in euros and a three-month forecast.

Uptivo is modular, so nothing is forced on you: run the live class alone and add the rest when it pays for itself. What disappears is the tax you pay every month reconciling one member across four suppliers.

What actually goes into the building

Uptivo Snap turns a screen you already own into a live heart-rate class. No dedicated Uptivo hardware is required; you need a compatible screen or tablet, an internet connection and supported member devices. Your next class can run on it. Not next quarter, after an installation: your next class.

Where you want permanent coverage, the Uptivo Bridge is a dedicated appliance, not a general-purpose computer. No customer-managed general-purpose workstation is required, and Bridge software and appliance updates are managed by Uptivo, so it is not one more machine your team has to look after. Bridges link over an embedded mesh: you cover a new room by adding a Bridge, not by pulling cable.

Your data, your brand

Uptivo provides API access to supported data and integrations, subject to permissions, technical scope and commercial terms, and the member app can carry your brand instead of ours. Your members belong to your club, not to a supplier’s app.

Who Uptivo is built for

Clubs that want participation to start from the monitors their members already own rather than from a sale. Clubs that want live heart-rate training in the functional area and the group room, not only in the room they installed for it. Clubs that know retention is decided between sessions, not during them. Clubs tired of reconciling one member across a heart-rate supplier, a booking system, a payment provider and an access control vendor. Clubs that want to prove it in next week’s timetable before signing anything. And operators running more than one site who refuse to accept a bill that grows every time a member says yes.

Switching from Myzone

Uptivo runs alongside your current setup during the transition. No class goes without a system, the timetable does not move, and members keep training with the devices they already have.

On history: migration may be available subject to source-system access, compatible export formats, consent requirements and the agreed import scope. Tell us which system holds your data and we will tell you before you sign what can realistically move, rather than after. There is more on our migration page.

What members rate the apps

On the Apple App Store, United States storefront, the Uptivo app averages 4.9 against 4.8 for the Myzone app. On Google Play, Uptivo averages 4.4 against 4.1 for Myzone.

Uptivo rates higher on both stores. The one to look at is Android, because roughly half your members are on it, and that is the app they would be asked to live in every day.

Average ratings and rating counts read on 11 August 2026 on the Apple App Store, United States storefront, and on Google Play. Ratings change over time. Compared apps are member-facing apps unless stated otherwise.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best alternative to Myzone for fitness clubs?

If all you want is effort points inside the class, plenty of products do that. If you want the members you are currently losing to be coached between sessions, and you want the class, the bookings, the payments, the door and the churn report on one member record, Uptivo is the alternative built for it.

What is the difference between Uptivo and Myzone?

Myzone participation runs through a Myzone device or a per-member Myzone Go subscription, and Myzone’s FAQ states its system is not compatible with Garmin, Whoop or other Bluetooth heart trackers. Uptivo supports a wide range of compatible Bluetooth LE and ANT+ monitors with no per-member device subscription. And Myzone plugs into your club software, where Uptivo can be your club software.

Can Uptivo work with the heart-rate monitors our members already have?

In most clubs, yes, and it is the fastest way to fill a class. Compatibility depends on the device’s broadcast profile, firmware and configuration. Send us what is actually in circulation and we will tell you exactly what carries over before you commit.

Does Uptivo require dedicated hardware?

No. Uptivo Snap runs in a browser on a screen you already own, with an internet connection and supported member devices. A Bridge appliance is only for permanent, multi-room coverage.

Can a club migrate from Myzone to Uptivo?

Yes, and it runs in parallel so no class ever goes without a system. Historical data migration may be available subject to source-system access, compatible export formats, consent requirements and the agreed import scope.

Does Uptivo include CRM and workout management?

Yes, as modules: bookings, memberships and payments, programming with more than 1,300 exercises, and churn reporting in Uptivo Dash. See our gym management software overview.

Is Uptivo suitable for multi-site fitness operators?

It is built for it: multi-location support, one member record across every site, club-level pricing within the selected user tier, and API access to supported data and integrations subject to permissions, technical scope and commercial terms.
