COMPARISON
Spivi Alternative for Gyms and Fitness Clubs | Uptivo
Do you want a screen in one room, or a platform that runs your whole club? Here is what changes with Uptivo.
What this comparison covers
This comparison covers what decides the outcome of a heart-rate programme in a real club: how many members actually take part, what you have to install and maintain, what happens to a member between sessions, and how much of your operation the platform can carry. It is not an assessment of everything Spivi sells. It is based on publicly available product information reviewed on 11 August 2026; availability may vary by product, plan, market and configuration.
The short version
Spivi describes Arena as a heart-rate tracking system for groups and individuals in fitness facilities, integrating with club management platforms such as Mindbody, Mariana Tek, WellnessLiving and ABC. It is a layer for the class, wired into systems you pay for separately.
Uptivo starts from the whole club. The live class is one module. Beside it sit AI coaching between sessions, programming and video-guided workouts, bookings, memberships, payments, access control and business intelligence, on one member record.
And you can be running it in your next class, because it starts in a browser rather than in an installation.
What an installation costs you before the first class
Spivi’s own documentation lists what an Arena installation includes: a wall-mountable computer with the operating system and software preinstalled, wireless receivers and a remote controller. Screens are not listed as included.
So the entry point is a project. A date, an installer, a room, and from then on a computer sitting on your network that belongs to your team to keep running.
Uptivo Snap needs a screen you already own and a login. If you want permanent coverage afterwards, the Bridge is an appliance we maintain, not a workstation you maintain. The difference is not philosophical: it is whether live heart-rate training is something you can trial on Tuesday or something you have to budget for next quarter.
The differences that decide it
Time to your first class. Spivi: an installation. Uptivo: a browser, a screen you already own, and your next class on the timetable.
What sits on your network. Spivi Arena ships a wall-mountable computer with the OS and software preinstalled. Uptivo: nothing at all with Snap, or a dedicated appliance whose software and updates Uptivo manages.
Where it reaches. Spivi’s published formats centre on indoor cycling and treadmill work, through Arena and Spivi Tread. Uptivo covers the functional area, the free-weights floor and the group room from the same system, because coverage follows the Bridge or the browser, not the wall the screen is mounted on.
Your club software. Spivi integrates with your management platform, which you keep paying for. With Uptivo, bookings, memberships, payments and access control are modules on the same platform, and API access is there if you would rather keep a system you already run.
Between sessions. Automated coaching that briefs your trainers and follows every member individually is not documented by Spivi. In Uptivo it is a module.
Programming. A structured workout library with on-screen circuit delivery is not documented by Spivi. Uptivo ships more than 1,300 exercises with video, timers and multi-screen synchronisation.
Availability may vary by plan, device, market and configuration. Where a capability is described as not documented, it means we did not find it in the public documentation reviewed on 11 August 2026.
Where Uptivo goes further
One platform instead of one more integration
An integration keeps two systems talking. A platform makes the second system unnecessary. With Uptivo the same platform also carries:
Bookings, memberships and payments: calendars, waiting lists, renewals, medical certificates and lead management in one workspace.
Programming and video-guided workouts across stations, from a library of more than 1,300 exercises, so a circuit runs without an instructor standing at every post.
Access control by QR code with Uptivo Gate, with or without a barrier, every rule checked in real time.
Uptivo Dash: revenue, attendance and a churn risk score for every member on one screen, with the revenue at risk in euros and a three-month forecast.
Uptivo is modular, so nothing is forced on you: run the live class alone and add the rest when it pays for itself. What disappears is the tax you pay every month reconciling one member across four suppliers.
One member, one record. “Who came three times last month and has not booked since” is a question you answer on a screen, not by exporting two systems into a spreadsheet on a Sunday.
Start in a class, not in a project
Uptivo Snap turns a screen you already own into a live heart-rate class. No dedicated Uptivo hardware is required; you need a compatible screen or tablet, an internet connection and supported member devices. Your next class can run on it. Not next quarter, after an installation: your next class.
Where you want permanent coverage, the Uptivo Bridge is a dedicated appliance, not a general-purpose computer. No customer-managed general-purpose workstation is required, and Bridge software and appliance updates are managed by Uptivo, so it is not one more machine your team has to look after. Bridges link over an embedded mesh: you cover a new room by adding a Bridge, not by pulling cable.
The part that keeps members, after the leaderboard goes dark
A leaderboard motivates the twenty people in the room for fifty minutes. Retention is decided in the six days that follow, and nothing on a studio screen touches them.
Nate, the Uptivo AI coach, is built into the platform. It briefs your trainers on what actually happened in a member’s last session, then follows every member your trainers will never have the hours to reach: chat in the member’s own language, feedback after every session, and plans that move with heart-rate history, training load and, where the member connects them, sleep and recovery from Apple Health, Health Connect and Garmin Connect. Personal training reaches a small fraction of most memberships. Nate is how you serve the rest of them, and how you sell a coaching tier to members who will never buy one-to-one.
Uptivo Performance Points are calculated against each member’s own estimated maximum heart rate, so the deconditioned beginner in row three earns the same recognition as the marathon runner beside her for the same relative effort. She stays. No additional UPPs are awarded above 94% of estimated maximum heart rate: the score is engineered to reward the member who comes back on Thursday, not the one who empties the tank on Monday and disappears. Ten levels, Rookie to Titanic, take four years of sustained consistency at 2,000 UPPs a month, and a member with two years invested in your club does not casually cancel.
Devices, data and your brand
Uptivo supports a wide range of compatible Bluetooth LE and ANT+ heart-rate devices, including monitors your members already own. Compatibility depends on the device’s broadcast profile, firmware and configuration, so before you commit to anything we check the devices actually in circulation in your club and tell you exactly what carries over.
Uptivo provides API access to supported data and integrations, subject to permissions, technical scope and commercial terms, and the member app can carry your brand instead of ours. Your members belong to your club, not to a supplier’s app.
Who Uptivo is built for
Clubs that want live heart-rate training everywhere their members train, not in the one room that got the installation. Clubs that would rather prove it in next week’s timetable than commission a project. Clubs that understand the class is the easy part and the six days after it are where members are lost. Clubs tired of paying one supplier for the screen, another for bookings, another for payments and another for the door. And operators running several sites who want one member record and club-level pricing within a user tier.
Switching from Spivi
Uptivo runs alongside your current setup during the transition. No class goes without a system, the timetable does not move, and members keep training with the devices they already have.
On history: migration may be available subject to source-system access, compatible export formats, consent requirements and the agreed import scope. Tell us which system holds your data and we will tell you before you sign what can realistically move, rather than after. There is more on our migration page.
What members rate the apps
Spivi publishes two member-facing apps on the Apple App Store, United States storefront. Spivi Go, the current one (v1.0.4, July 2026), averages 4.2 from 6 ratings. The earlier Spivi app (v1.6, December 2025) averages 2.9 from 17 ratings. The Uptivo app averages 4.9 from 345 ratings, and 4.4 from 622 reviews on Google Play.
Six ratings is not a verdict on a product, and we are not presenting it as one. It matters for a narrower and more practical reason: this is the listing your members look at before deciding whether to install anything, and right now there is nothing on it to reassure them.
Average ratings and rating counts read on 11 August 2026 on the Apple App Store, United States storefront, and on Google Play. Ratings change over time, and counts are shown alongside the scores. Compared apps are member-facing apps unless stated otherwise.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best alternative to Spivi for fitness clubs?
If you want a screen in a studio, several products do that. If you want live heart-rate training in every room, coaching that continues between sessions, and your bookings, payments, door and churn reporting on the same member record, Uptivo is the alternative built for it.
What is the difference between Uptivo and Spivi?
Scope and deployment. Spivi is a class system wired into club software you pay for separately; Uptivo can be the club software. Spivi Arena arrives as a wall-mountable computer with software preinstalled; Uptivo runs from a browser, or on an appliance we maintain for you.
Can Uptivo work with the heart-rate monitors our members already have?
In most clubs, yes. Compatibility depends on the device’s broadcast profile, firmware and configuration. Send us what is in circulation and we will tell you exactly what carries over before you commit.
Does Uptivo require dedicated hardware?
No. Uptivo Snap runs in a browser on a screen you already own, with an internet connection and supported member devices. A Bridge appliance is only for permanent, multi-room coverage.
Can a club migrate from Spivi to Uptivo?
Yes, and it runs in parallel so the timetable never moves. Historical data migration may be available subject to source-system access, compatible export formats, consent requirements and the agreed import scope.
Does Uptivo replace our gym management software?
It can, and for most clubs that is where the saving is. Bookings, memberships, payments and gym management are modules, and API access is there where you would rather keep a system you already use, subject to permissions, technical scope and commercial terms.
Is Uptivo suitable for multi-site fitness operators?
Yes: multi-location support, one member record across every site, and club-level pricing within the selected user tier.
See it on your own club
Bring the things that actually decide this: how many rooms and sites, which devices your members already carry, and which suppliers you are currently paying to do one job each. In 45 minutes we will show you your club running on Uptivo, and tell you straight if it does not fit. Speak to an expert, or see the other Uptivo comparisons.
