COMPARISON
Technogym Teambeats Alternative for Gyms and Clubs | Uptivo
Should live heart-rate training depend on which generation of console you bought? Here is what changes with Uptivo.
What this comparison covers
This comparison covers what decides the outcome of a heart-rate programme in a real club: how many members actually take part, what you have to install and maintain, what happens to a member between sessions, and how much of your operation the platform can carry. It is not an assessment of everything Technogym sells. It is based on publicly available product information reviewed on 11 August 2026; availability may vary by product, plan, market and configuration.
The short version
Teambeats is Technogym’s group heart-rate format, and it runs from Technogym hardware. Technogym’s own app store lists it as working with UNITY SELF, and the installation documentation we reviewed specifies a UNITY SELF of a 2016 Excite+ or Artis generation or later, an ANT+ upgrade kit for each console, one or more class antennas per room, and a Teambeats licence for the facility. Each antenna supports up to 50 devices, and the club supplies the 16:9 monitor or projector connected by HDMI.
So the price of entry to group heart-rate training is a console of the right vintage. If your floor is not Technogym, or is Technogym but the wrong generation, the answer is an equipment conversation.
Uptivo needs a screen. It runs from a browser, in any room, on the wearables your members already carry, independent of the brand on your machines, and it continues past the class into coaching, programming, CRM, access control and business intelligence.
What the console costs you
Not just money. Flexibility.
Live heart-rate training becomes something you can only do where a qualifying console stands, which means it is scoped by your last equipment purchase rather than by where your members actually train. Want it in the functional area? Check the console. Want it in the new studio? Check the console. Want it across a second site with an older floor? Budget for consoles.
And it welds your engagement layer to your equipment cycle. Machines are replaced on a financing schedule. Your members’ history, points and coaching should not come up for renegotiation every time the leasing does.
With Uptivo the engagement layer sits on the member’s wrist and a screen. Your equipment decisions stay equipment decisions.
The differences that decide it
What runs the class. Teambeats: a Technogym UNITY SELF console of a supported generation, plus a facility licence. Uptivo: a compatible screen with Snap, or a Bridge appliance for permanent coverage.
Extra in-room hardware. Per the installation documentation reviewed, Teambeats needs an ANT+ upgrade kit per console and one or more class antennas per room, at up to 50 devices per antenna. Uptivo: nothing with Snap, or a Bridge where you want it permanent.
Where you can run it. Teambeats: where a qualifying console stands. Uptivo: any room with a screen.
Equipment dependency. Teambeats requires a Technogym console of a supported generation. Uptivo is independent of the brand of your machines.
Assessment. Technogym Checkup is a physical station you buy and find floor space for. Uptivo integrates supported body-composition devices, so the analyser you already own feeds the member profile.
Access control. Not covered in the Teambeats documentation reviewed. In Uptivo it is a module, by QR code, with or without a barrier.
How you try it. Teambeats: an installation and a licence. Uptivo: your next class.
Availability may vary by plan, device, market and configuration. Where a capability is described as not documented, it means we did not find it in the public documentation reviewed on 11 August 2026.
Where Uptivo goes further
No console, no generation to check
Uptivo Snap turns a screen you already own into a live heart-rate class. No dedicated Uptivo hardware is required; you need a compatible screen or tablet, an internet connection and supported member devices. Your next class can run on it. Not next quarter, after an installation: your next class.
Where you want permanent coverage, the Uptivo Bridge is a dedicated appliance, not a general-purpose computer. No customer-managed general-purpose workstation is required, and Bridge software and appliance updates are managed by Uptivo, so it is not one more machine your team has to look after. Bridges link over an embedded mesh: you cover a new room by adding a Bridge, not by pulling cable.
There is no kiosk to buy, no console vintage to verify and no equipment brand standing in the middle of your engagement strategy.
Every room, not just the ones with the right hardware
Uptivo supports a wide range of compatible Bluetooth LE and ANT+ heart-rate devices, including monitors your members already own. Compatibility depends on the device’s broadcast profile, firmware and configuration, so before you commit to anything we check the devices actually in circulation in your club and tell you exactly what carries over.
Coverage follows the member, so the functional area and the free-weights floor are served by the same system as the studio, from day one, with no additional consoles.
Coaching between sessions, and the members no trainer reaches
Nate, the Uptivo AI coach, is built into the platform. It briefs your trainers on what actually happened in a member’s last session, then follows every member your trainers will never have the hours to reach: chat in the member’s own language, feedback after every session, and plans that move with heart-rate history, training load and, where the member connects them, sleep and recovery from Apple Health, Health Connect and Garmin Connect. Personal training reaches a small fraction of most memberships. Nate is how you serve the rest of them, and how you sell a coaching tier to members who will never buy one-to-one.
Uptivo Performance Points are calculated against each member’s own estimated maximum heart rate, so the deconditioned beginner in row three earns the same recognition as the marathon runner beside her for the same relative effort. She stays. No additional UPPs are awarded above 94% of estimated maximum heart rate: the score is engineered to reward the member who comes back on Thursday, not the one who empties the tank on Monday and disappears. Ten levels, Rookie to Titanic, take four years of sustained consistency at 2,000 UPPs a month, and a member with two years invested in your club does not casually cancel.
The club, not just the class
With Uptivo the same platform also carries:
Bookings, memberships and payments: calendars, waiting lists, renewals, medical certificates and lead management in one workspace.
Programming and video-guided workouts across stations, from a library of more than 1,300 exercises, so a circuit runs without an instructor standing at every post.
Access control by QR code with Uptivo Gate, with or without a barrier, every rule checked in real time.
Uptivo Dash: revenue, attendance and a churn risk score for every member on one screen, with the revenue at risk in euros and a three-month forecast.
Uptivo is modular, so nothing is forced on you: run the live class alone and add the rest when it pays for itself. What disappears is the tax you pay every month reconciling one member across four suppliers.
Keep your equipment. Add the layer.
Plenty of clubs run Technogym equipment and have no intention of changing it, and they should not have to. Uptivo is a wearable-led layer and provides API access to supported data and integrations, subject to permissions, technical scope and commercial terms. You can add live heart-rate training and AI coaching across the whole site without reopening the equipment contract.
Who Uptivo is built for
Clubs whose equipment is mixed, recently financed, or simply not up for renewal, and who refuse to price their engagement layer as part of a machine purchase. Clubs that want live heart-rate training in every room instead of wherever a console stands. Clubs that want to run it in next week’s timetable rather than commission an installation. Clubs that know retention is decided between sessions. Clubs that want bookings, payments, the door and churn reporting on one member record. And operators running several sites who want club-level pricing within a user tier.
Switching from Technogym Teambeats
Uptivo runs alongside your current setup during the transition. No class goes without a system, the timetable does not move, and members keep training with the devices they already have. If you are keeping your Technogym equipment, Uptivo is designed to sit alongside it rather than replace it.
On history: migration may be available subject to source-system access, compatible export formats, consent requirements and the agreed import scope. Tell us which system holds your data and we will tell you before you sign what can realistically move, rather than after. There is more on our migration page.
What members rate the apps
On the Apple App Store, United States storefront, the Uptivo app averages 4.9 against 4.7 for the Technogym member app. On Google Play, Uptivo averages 4.4 against 4.3 for Technogym.
Uptivo rates higher on both stores. It is not the reason to choose one over the other, and the decision here is the console, the equipment cycle and how far the platform reaches.
Average ratings and rating counts read on 11 August 2026 on the Apple App Store, United States storefront, and on Google Play. Ratings change over time. Compared apps are member-facing apps unless stated otherwise.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best alternative to Technogym Teambeats for fitness clubs?
If what you want gone is the console dependency, you want a wearable-led system that runs from a screen. Uptivo does that in every room, on the devices your members already carry, and adds coaching, programming and club operations on the same platform.
What is the difference between Uptivo and Technogym Teambeats?
Teambeats runs from a Technogym UNITY SELF console of a supported generation with a facility licence. Uptivo runs from a browser or a dedicated appliance, in any room, independent of the brand of your machines, and continues into coaching, programming, CRM and access control.
Do we have to change our equipment to use Uptivo?
No. Uptivo works from the member’s wearable and does not depend on the brand of your machines. Clubs running Technogym equipment add Uptivo alongside it.
Do we need a console or kiosk to run a class?
No. Uptivo Snap runs in a browser on a screen you already own, with an internet connection and supported member devices. A Bridge appliance is only for permanent, multi-room coverage.
Can we keep using our body-composition analyser?
Often yes. Uptivo integrates supported body-composition devices into the member profile. Which models are supported depends on the device and configuration, so tell us what you have.
Does Uptivo include CRM and workout management?
Yes, as modules: bookings, memberships and payments, programming with more than 1,300 exercises, and churn reporting in Uptivo Dash. See our gym management software overview.
Is Uptivo suitable for multi-site fitness operators?
Yes: multi-location support, one member record across every site, club-level pricing within the selected user tier, and API access to supported data and integrations subject to permissions, technical scope and commercial terms.
